Sterling, VA (May 7, 2019) - Although they had not won a game in the Dulles District, the Park View Patriots were having a winning season overall. Their 6-5 record was a real accomplishment for a program that had not seen a great deal of success over time.
But the Patriots hadn't won a district matchup in five tries, and their host, the Dominion Titans had only lost once in six. Also, the Titans were coming off a stinging loss to Riverside that included an injury to star attacker Mya Brock.
While the Patriots tried to remain competitive, it was clear that they were simply no match for the Titans. Even with Brock playing only briefly, Dominion's sophisticated and well-oiled offensive machine simply dominated--and they needed to get back on the winning track.
In a show of true force, the Titans scored eleven goals in the first quarter. The Patriots defense simply could not keep up or prevent Dominion from getting open and easy shots. And when they did get control of the ball, Park View barely made it past midfield before they were on the defensive again.
Although the difference in the two teams was obvious, Dominion could not be accused of piling on the score. Coach Diane Traynor substituted liberally and moved players up from the back so they could gain experience and get a chance to score.
Dominion finishes the regular season with a 13-1 overall record. They'll have to make it to the district championship game to gain a rematch with Riverside, but they look like a team that can do it.
Final Score: Dominion 18 - Park View 0
