2019.05.07 Boys Lacrosse: Park View @ Dominion - ChasSumserPhotography

Sterling, VA (May 7, 2019) -  Coming off a season-defining win over Riverside, the Dominion Titans hosted the Park View Patriots for a late-season matchup. The home team was alone at the top of the Dulles District while the visitors were end of the standings. The Titans hadn't lost in District play and, conversely, the Patriots hadn't won.

Chas Sumser Photography was there to capture the action and emotion and posted a gallery of images from the game.

Once the senior night ceremony ended, it didn't take long for the fireworks to begin. In the 3rd minute of the first quarter, Dominion's Tyler Burton scored the first of fourteen unanswered goals. In the opening period alone, eight different players scored for the Titans with Jacob Schaible the only attacker to tally twice.

With victory clearly in hand, Dominion coach Pete Linotti could substitute liberally, give rest to his starters, and give some experience to his bench players. More than once, the stadium announcer could be heard saying, "and that's his first varsity goal" as another shot found the back of the triangle.

From the second quarter on, the pace of scoring clearly slowed in a nice gesture of sportsmanship. While Dominion would score eight more times after the first quarter, they largely played a possession game, working the ball deliberately around the field and inserting new players as they went.

But credit should be given to the Patriots who stayed upright and consistent throughout the game. In particular, attackman Juan Recinos-Funes exemplified the heart that it takes to lead your team at the end of a disappointing season. As a result of his individual intense effort, he was rewarded with the Patriots only goal midway through the final period.

Final Score: Dominion 17 - Park View 1
