2022.10.26 Volleyball: Loudoun Valley @ Dominion
Sterling, VA (October 26, 2022) - Although the Dominion Titans earned the second seed in the Dulles District volleyball tournament, and the Loudoun Valley Vikings the third, the two teams finished the regular season with the exact same, impressive 11-4 district records.
In their first meeting, the Vikings won, 3-1. In the second, the result was inverted. In this third meeting, the Titans had home court advantage, but that was the only thing separating them from the Vikings. It was anyone's match to win, and the reward would be a spot in the in the tournament championship.

Set 1: Dominion 25 - Loudoun Valley 11 (1-0)
Loudoun Valley called their first time out trailing 6-3. They clearly were not in sync early, and the Titans' confident, mistake-free game plan was working to perfection. Before much time had passed, Dominion had extended the lead to 16-7, and then on to an easy first set win.
Set 2: Dominion 25 - Loudoun Valley 20 (2-0)
In the most competitive set of the night, the Vikings maintained an early two-point margin to the midway point. Given Loudoun Valley's resurgence in this set, it was a surprise when Dominion suddenly had a 13-11 lead. It didn't feel like the Titans actually should be in front, but Kaitlyn Demitz was leading the way with timely hitting, and Dominion extended their lead to 20-15. Valley narrowed the margin to 20-18, but senior Kennedy Seekford finished the set for Dominion.
Set 3: Dominion 25 - Loudoun Valley 16 (3-0)
After the second set scare, the Titans returned to the dominant form they displayed in the first. Bolting out to a 14-6 lead, they were temporarily slowed by a great serving run from Carly Zimmet who brought the Vikings back to within a single point at 14-13. But Valley would only score three more points, as Dominion finished the sweep and advanced to the championship match where they will host the Broad Run Spartans, upset winners over top-seeded Rock Ridge.
