2022.05.03 Girls Lacrosse: Potomac Falls @ Riverside

Lansdowne, VA (May 3, 2022) - The Potomac Falls Panthers are having a good season, but to to play against the Riverside Rams--on their home turf--would be the real proof. Pumped up for "senior night" festivities, the Rams intended to tighten their grip on the Potomac District, and recent wins over Stone Bridge and surging Independence have them on a title-bound roll.

Chas Sumser Photography was there to capture the action and emotion and posted a gallery of images from the game.

For the first six minutes of the match, the teams seemed about equal. Riverside had several good chances, but Panther goalie Anderson Strange was on her game. At the other end Potomac Falls was putting pressure on Rams goalie Celeste Endo. But neither team could find the back of the net.

And then the flood gates opened in the Potomac Falls end.

Starting with a marker from Audrey Ziff, the Rams went on an eightteen-goal run that was only paused by the halftime horn. Included in the first half part of the streak were goals from Lydia Oldknow (3), Madison Broyhill (2), Brookelyn Morrison (2), two more from Ziff, and one each from Grace Greason and Paige Fox.

With the clock running without stoppage for the remainder of the game--and with the Rams playing something of a possession game--the pace of scoring slowed in the second half to just six goals for the home team. To their credit, the Panther defense never stopped hustling, but they were simply no match for the Rams' crisp offensive strategy and rock solid defense.

Final Score: Riverside 18 - Potomac Falls 0
