Sterling, VA (September 26, 2019) - Dominion High School has a long tradition of "special night" during the volleyball season. This time it was military appreciation and--through the combined efforts of the team, the players, the school, and other volunteers--the pre-game activities highlighted the contributions made by our country's military service men and women and first responders.
Before the match started, the honorees joined the Titans and the Broad Run Spartans on the court where the ceremony was capped off by a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem sung by members of the Dominion choirs.
Chas Sumser Photography was there to capture the action and emotion and posted a gallery of images from the game.
Perhaps energized by the night's celebration, the Titans came out fast and furious. Winning the first set easily, Dominion cruised to a solid 25-10 first set score.
The Spartans bounced back in the second game for their most competitive period, but they could not hold off Dominion as the home team won again, 25-19.
And the third set looked a lot like the first with the Titans dominating for a crisp finish, 25-12, and a 3-0 sweep.
Heading into the heart of the Dulles District schedule, the Titans are positioned well. The district is more balanced than in previous years with Loudoun County, Loudoun Valley, Heritage and Dominion all within a game of first place.
Final Score: Dominion 3 - Broad Run 0
