Lansdowne, VA (February 11, 2019) - Entering the first round of the 2019 Dulles District playoffs, the third-seeded Riverside Rams sported an excellent overall record at 16-6. Their opponent, the sixth-seeded Heritage Pride, had a much more modest record at 10-12.

But if you looked a bit closer perhaps the difference was not quite so significant. They finished with 7-5 and 5-7 records in district play, respectively, and the Rams had won both regular season matchups. But in their last meeting, just two weeks ago, the Pride had kept it close before falling, 54-51.

And, after all, anything can happen in the playoffs.

Chas Sumser Photography was there to capture the action and emotion and posted a gallery of images from the game.

Except anything didn't happen.

From the outset, the game belonged to the Rams. Hitting on all cylinders, the whole team flew up and down the court led by the scintillating play of Brett Asbury and Beau Everett. The two guards dipped and drove and scored at will, igniting the offense and setting the Rampage on fire.

The Pride came to play, but their defense simply could not keep up with the pace of their opponent. Moustapha Sene led Heritage on both ends of the court. He and Nathan Olafson continually tried to penetrate the Ram lane, but that was no easy task as Riverside played total, stifling defense. By halftime, the Rams had expanded the lead to thirty points, 49-19.

Zach Dausch put a huge cap on the first half with a big three-pointer that had his team exploding off the bench and into the locker room with everything going their way.

It was more of the same after the break. While Heritage did manage to inch closer at times, as soon as they did so the Rams would expand the lead again. With virtually the whole fourth quarter remaining, Riverside coach Mike Koscinski was able to play his entire bench giving them valuable playoff experience.

They'll need that experience, too, as they head to Woodgrove to play the second-seeded Wolverines, who had a great season-ending run to head into the playoffs with big time momentum.

Final Score: Riverside 80 - Heritage 56
